Frequently Asked Questions
Status: 09.10.2024Where does the congress take place?
The congress mainly takes place at two locations.
1. Die Rote Flora (Achidi-John-Platz 1, 20357 Hamburg, Germany)
2. TBA (we will release this information shortly before the congress)
The info point is located in the Rote Flora.
Both locations can be reached on foot in 25 minutes.
But that's not all! Here is a map (in German) with additional locations that can be visited during the congress. Link to full-screen map.
What barriers do the locations have?
General:
In general, not all rooms are accessible by wheelchair via a ramp or elevator. We plan to set up a room to stream programs from these rooms to a more accessible location.
Please adhere to our infection protection concept and get tested for COVID-19 and wear a mask; further details on the infection protection concept can be found on the website. There will be a (mobile) awareness team at all events.
If there are barriers for you that are not listed here, please feel free to contact us via email or Instagram!
re-fuse@riseup.net / @refuse_hamburg
- Incito:
is only accessible via three steps, the toilet is very narrow, the interior is smoke-free, alcoholic beverages are served, and there will be no strobe/flashlights during the event.
- Rote Flora:
There is a side entrance without steps. There is a wheelchair-accessible toilet that must be unlocked for you. Smoking is not allowed during the events, and alcoholic beverages are served. There are no flashlights. The Flora is quite cool in autumn/winter, so make sure to dress warmly. There will be hot water bottles on-site.
- LiZ:
is on the ground floor and accessible by wheelchair; however, there are no wheelchair-accessible toilets. Smoking is not allowed. No alcoholic beverages will be served except on Friday evening at an external bar evening. There are no strobe lights.
- TBA:
is completely accessible; all event rooms and toilets are reachable by wheelchair. Smoking is not allowed, and there are no strobe lights.
- Centro Sociale:
is only accessible via one step, and the toilets are not barrier-free. Smoking is not allowed, and no alcoholic beverages are served. There are no strobe lights.
- Café Knallhart:
The Café Knallhart is accessible at ground level through a small door threshold. The toilets are located in the basement and are not barrier-free. The basement can be reached via stairs or a high curb and a steep ramp. The entire café is smoke-free, there are no strobe/flashlights, and alcoholic beverages are served. Barrier-free toilets and access to both rooms are possible through the university but cannot be guaranteed, as we depend on the university staff.
Does participation in the congress cost an entrance fee?
At the info point in the Flora, we will actively ask for a donation to finance the congress.
Recommended donation per day: 15-20€
Recommended donation for the entire congress: 45-60€
Everyone is invited to attend the congress also without a donation.
The organizing team of Re:fuse is working to create a diverse congress with low-threshold access. At the same time, there is a demanding program that costs us a lot of money, even now in the preparation phase.
The money flows particularly into the immediate organization of the individual event formats, a delicious and nourishing kitchen for all, covering travel and transport costs, providing technical and spatial infrastructure, and promoting the accessibility of our events.
The recommended donations are broken down by day:
15 euros per person per day means that we can most likely cover our costs.
A solidarity price of 20 euros per person per day gives us more security and may open up the possibility for another congress in the future.
It would be great for us if these amounts could be paid all at once for all the days you attend the congress. Therefore, we will actively ask you to do so. Of course, we also accept lower amounts. People who do not donate are also welcome. All participants have access to all events and the kitchen regardless of their donated amount.
How is consumption handled in the rooms?
No consumption or distribution of alcohol & weed in all rooms before 20:00.
The program runs until then.
In some rooms, there is a general smoking ban. Please pay attention to that.
Will there be a translation?
There will be at least one whisper translation; the majority of the events will be in German. We are working on professional translation and have already contacted some collectives, so far without success. If you have a tip, feel free to contact us.
What does your hygiene concept look like?
Solidarity is our weapon, so we ask you, within your possibilities, to adhere to our infection protection concept:
- Stay home if you have symptoms of illness.
- Get tested for COVID-19 at the entrance, even if you feel healthy.
- Go home if you test positive (even without symptoms).
- Wear a mask.
→ Despite vaccines and a decrease in infections, the COVID virus is still a problem. Additionally, masks protect against other infectious diseases, such as the flu. For people with a weakened immune system or other risks, masks make our congress safer and more accessible.
- Keep the best possible distance.
- Wash your hands regularly.
- Cough and sneeze into a tissue or your elbow and wash them afterward.
- COVID-19 tests and masks will be available at the entrance.
→ We can only provide both in limited quantities. Please also take personal responsibility for this.
